Description

Details

All bikes have their achilles heal and on the KTM LC8 motor the clutch slave cylinder is the weak point (along with the water pump, but one thing at a time!). oberon Engineering have created a cure for this problem!

KTM clutch slave cylinder by Oberon Performance. Designed to improve the efficiency and performance of the original clutch slave cylinder for LC8 engines. The enhanced 27mm piston reduces the heaviness of the original clutch action and brings much relief to aching arms. This unit cures the problem of jamming pistons and subsequent failure. The internal piston design, seals and breather hole have been drastically enhanced to prevent leaks and leave a smoother clutch action. CNC machined from T6 billet alloy for lightness, strength and eye-catching looks. Everything you need is included in the kit including full instructions and is ready to fit.

We also supply a billet aluminium mounting plate that replaces the OEM plastic version.
The Billet aluminium version produced by Oberon Performance will improve the mounting of either the original Slave Cylinder or the Oberon replacement KTM Clutch Slave Cylinder, also due to the natural heat dissipation of this alloy a cooler running condition will allow better operation and more reliable performance from the clutch action.
Retain the spacers from your plastic backing plate and insert them into the billet item to complete the assembly.

Colour: Annodised Orange

Questions on Oberon Clutch Slave Cylinder KTM LC8 950 990 Adventure SE

  • From giannis at 03/02/2014 09:19
    • hi,

i have an lc8 and i'll buy an oberon clutch from you.

my question is will i need an o-ring between the clutch slave and the OEM mounting plate ?

and if yes is this o-ring included with the oberon clutch slave?

i am asking because my o-ring has been totally destroyed.

      cheers

      giannis

    • Giannis,

You do not need the O'ring to intall the Oberon items.

      Hope that helps.

    • I don't see the 990SMT mentioned specifically on the list of suitable models.
Is it safe to assume that it will fit the SMT?
    • Dave,

We have never tried to fit this item to an SMT. The only way to know for sure will be to check the KTM parts numbers. If the SMT part is the same as an ADV/SE part then it will fit.

Sorry we can't give any more practical input on this one...

Yea good product , it's easy to install and works really good.
The greased ball bearing seems to make it operate smoother.
I fited it , attached the hose then unscrewed it and reverse bled the system by pushing the piston back in .
All the parts were in the kit and half an hour later the job was done.

Easy fit - more confident now... Review by Biketruck

This was the second slave cylinder to fail on my KTM 990. The first was fixed under warranty and you'd expect the new one to be better? Then, changing down to second and dipping my clutch into the corner, the lever pressure disappeared and back wheel locked - I came off! All was ok - but now fitted the Oberon and the spacer plate. Only challenge was deciding on what Clutch Fluid to use - as the forums have a million recommends. So went for what the KTM said - The KTM clutch master cyclinder is a Magura item so officially you should use Magura oil - says Magura Blood on the bottle - and it's expensive. I took the opportunity to clean the Master Cylinder of any gunge - with spare fluid and let it drain thru the pipe a few times and out the other end before fitting the new Oberon. It was black and dirty. Used a few cotton buds to get it clean as. Then filled the Oberon directly before fitting and bled thru for 5 mins. Clutch seems fine. Dont feel an awful lot of difference in terms of the 'feel' of the clutch - but that could just be me. Took advantage of degreasing all around the side of the engine and sprocket while I had the old slave off... so took me about an hour to clean, degrease, clean and fit and bleed. Looks good.
