A pocket packable tough but super lightweight 3-layer non-lined waterproof breathable jacket designed to be worn over any protective layer when you need to add wind and waterproof functionality. Expedition, trail or commuter ready
FirstView
Description

Our lightest, most packable waterproof jacket.

You’d think it would be relatively straightforward making such a focussed jacket, and it is… if you have the right fabric…

The problem was that nobody made the fabric that we needed, so we made our own.

It needed to be light, tough, superbly waterproof, breathable and totally windproof.

Enter ASTex. Designed and made by us with no compromise, for nothing other than lightweight adventure motorcycling.

A 210D super strong nylon 6-6 face material in a ripstop configuration with a PU breathable/waterproof lining that is 100% windproof and will withstand a hydrostatic head of 30m (30000mm).

Unlike some fabrics which use a porous membrane technology (that lets air through) not only is our PU membrane totally windproof, which means we can use a single layer over the entire jacket to reduce weight, but it doesn’t rely on your body warmth to drive the damp from the inside of the jacket to the outside. So, even if you get wet AND cold with the jacket on (hard sweaty technical singletrack followed by a long cold road section anyone?) our fabric will keep driving that moisture outwards to get you warm and dry as soon as possible.

It took us two years to develop this fabric, but once it was ready the design of the jacket came quickly. Long sleeves to support your forward reach to the bars, a great fit and a single throttle friendly chest pocket that the jacket packs down into. It’s very much part of the family of Adventure Spec waterproof jackets.

At a mere 410g this lightweight waterproof shell may be diminutive, but it packs a big punch for its weight and has already had many hours of testing in some of Northern Europes worst winter conditions.

Questions on Aqua Pac Jacket

    • Can you confirm that this overjacket is waterproof and breathable? Do you use a liner or bonded in membrane system like GoreTex?
    • It is waterproof and breathable. We use a material that works the same way as GoreTex. It is bonded to the facing fabric in the same way as well.

    • Hi

Is the sizing linear, so if I have a size M Mongolia jacket (which I do), do I just get the size M aquapac jacket? My Mongolia has armour in it.
    • If you're at the top end of the M, the Aquapac might need to be a size L. We suggest measuring your chest etc over your Mongolia jacket with armour in, then putting that size into the size charts.

      -Hope that helps

    • What is the difference between de the Atacama Race Shell and the Aqua from a material/durability standpoint.

I understand the Atacama caters more to the racer with a neckbrace but I'm a non racer with a neckbrace :-)

At the moment I use a Klim Forecast jacket with the neckbrace on top and if I had a Aqua I would do the same but why should I consider the Atacama?

      Thanx
    • The Aqua Pac and the Race Shell use the same materials.

If you don't mind taking your neckbrace off to put the Aqua Pak on, then it'll do you fine. If you're in a rush like a racer, then you can use the neck brace collar of the Race Shell and just throw the shell over the neck brace. Some neck braces need strapping onto your armour, so would have to go under the outer layer as well, but it sounds like this isn't an issue for you.

      Hope that helps.

    • Will you be making a trouser version of these?
    • Yes, they are in development now. We expect them before the end of the summer. Thanks for the query.

    • Hi,

Having both the Singletrack Jacket and the Aqua Pac in your locker, for which trips/riding conditions/places/weather would you pack the Singletrack Jacket vs the Aqua Pac and vice versa?
This would help me choose the right piece of gear to buy

      Thanks :)
    • That's an interesting question.

Mostly for me it would be about what I had on underneath the shell jacket and how often I intended to use the garment.

With a fully armoured and abrasion resistant set of under layers that just needed an occasional waterproof over shell the AquaPac jacket would be perfect. I would use it with things like the Linesman or Mongolia Jackets.

If I was looking to wear something more permanently over armour because I was expecting wetter or colder weather then I would choose the Singletrack Jacket and be ready to layer up under it with a Baltic Hybrid if the weather was cold. In this instance I would expect to ride with the jacket on all the time and I would hope that the Kevlar high impact areas would help to protect me in the event of a fall. With the AquaPac Jacket I would expect any protection to come from what ever I was wearing underneath.

      I hope that helps.

This is tough but super light weight. Very waterproof and breathable. Works perfectly with the Linesman jacket. Highly recommend the two as a package. It has the same really nice cut as I've come to expect from Adventure Spec riding gear.
