A set of powder coated, simple, lightweight rear luggage plates designed to keep your soft luggage from folding under your back wheels on your Yamaha Tenere 700 / T7 / T700.

Have you ever crashed a bike with a tubular rear luggage rack? We have, it’s often not pretty. They sort of bend and can’t be pushed back into shape...or they just snap.

Our problem was that we never rode with hard boxes or huge heavy soft panniers. We rode with lightweight simple soft luggage (our Magadan Panniers for example) and just needed something to stop the bags folding under the back wheel when we hit whoops or off road sections. Talking of which…Having ridden the Tenere we’re pretty sure that luggage or not, most of you will be venturing onto tracks and trails on this awesome machine. So, we also need something that wouldn’t add too much weight to the bike (so that it could be lifted when dropped) and more importantly, survive multiple drops.

These simple flat plate 5000 series aluminium racks are the perfect companion to simple smaller soft throwover panniers. With multiple vertical slots for strapping options (and weight saving) a 4 layer powder coated finish and a simple 3 dimensional welded construction they served Dave well during his recent trip to Africa (he dropped the bike a few times apparently…) and were declared fit for production on his return.

For those of you using a squarer style of pannier please note that Dave used a simple Giant Loop Hot Springs Heat Shield to keep the rear of the right hand Magadan pannier off the exhaust.

    • Hi, do you know the weight, please ?
    • Exactly 2kg.

      Hope that helps.

    • Where are the passenger/sozius footpegs?
Is it possible with two persons setup with soft luggage
      (soft panniers) 31-38 litres?
Or are they will then be just to fare in the upper front in the space of the legs.

Thank you very much greetings from Switzerland
    • The rear side racks do not work with pillion foot pegs, as the front lower mount requires you to remove the foot pegs to fit.

      Sorry about that.

    • hi,
is possible to mount only left side luggage rack ?
      thanks
    • Yes,

You can mount either side without the other.

      Hope that helps.

    • E compresa anche la struttura in tubolare intorno alla sella o solo i 2 pannelli laterali?
      Grazie.
      Guido
    • La sezione tubolare fa parte del rack superiore, non i rack laterali.

      Spero che aiuti.

    • with this aluminium side rack , do you still need the Kriega baseplate in order to fit the Kriega panniers ?

Is it possible to fit the Kriega OS 18 on the Adv spec racks ?
    • We have fitted the OS12 packs and they work perfectly, so there is no reason that the OS18 packs shouldn't work. Unfortunately, we don't have the bike at our warehouse to test this for you and we don't have any OS18 bags with the bike?! We hope to be allowed to collect the bike and test this for you soon...

    • Thinking about mounting rotopax water and fuel cans with Kriega OS soft luggage outboard on these....

Water on hot side by the end can seems sensible, but clearance?

Rotopax mounts - will they bolt straight through the side luggage racks?

Ok to use the side racks without the top rack? (Thinking of the large Kriega us 30 as a tail pack above the rotopax cans and OS 18 outboard as side panniers )
    • Tim,

That's a lot of weight. These are predominantly designed as a lightweight rack system to keep soft luggage from folding under your rear wheels. While they were tested with 10kg+ per side to Africa and back (and I'd be happy to add more weight to them) I'm not sure they would be sufficiently robust to cope with 10kg+ luggage and fuel/water weight.

For reference I used a heat shield on the end can to keep the right side rack off the exhaust and it worked perfectly.

      I hope this helps.

    • Hi,
I am getting back to you regarding the question above from Severin on April, 2nd: There is a report in a T7 forum from an Australian guy that mounted the side racks together with pillion foot pegs successfully.
    • Great news. Not something that we tried, but good to hear it worked. Thanks for this!

    • Hi,

      Two questions;

      1. Can you show a picture of the right side of the bike and also looking from the rear with your Magadan Panniers fitted so we can see how they fit in relation to the exhaust?

      2. Will the side rack fit with the Yamaha accessory tail rack and passenger foot pegs fitted also?

      Thank you.
    • We now finally have a photographer, bike and parts in the same place and will be releasing more detailed photographs of the part as soon as we can.
