rather big sized. I guess most will need once size small than regular. Nice material. Great shape. Absolute waterproof. Need to play around with the protection to make it stay, where it is meant to be. Also need to upgrade to level 2 - those level parts are rater thin!!!

Excellent Choice for all year round Review by Tim.O.
Excellent Choice for all year round" by , written on 21 March 2017
I originally bought this jacket three years ago, having worn it almost every day for my commute into work and it’s still going strong. I love it so much that now Klim have brought out a newer version and the original is selling slightly cheaper, I’ve bought a second to store away for when the first eventually gives up (but there’s no sign of that yet). I wanted an all year round jacket that was waterproof, windproof without being too cumbersome and made up of layer upon layer, reducing movement. The Overland ticks these boxes.
The jacket is well fitting and being a larger portly sort of chap I find 2XL fits really well where as in many other jackets I’ve had between 3-5XL to get a decent fit, so it’s worth trying one on first. The D30 armour is securely fitted in the shoulders, elbows and back covering your entire spinal area and is held in with Velcro and net pouches. It has a Cordura bonded with Gortex outer shell and a substantial wicking mesh liner. Doesn’t sound much but it’s definitely wind proof as I rarely need much under the jacket only wearing a fleece when temperatures drop to zero.
You do feel the cold when the jacket is wet though taking into account wind chill, which is when you benefit from extra layers. That said this is an all year round jacket as in the summer you simply open the vents to stay cool in the hottest of weather. Its 100% waterproof claim is spot on and what I love about this which differs from many other Gortex jackets is that rather than the Gortex being tucked between the outer shell and lining as an internal layer it is bonded onto the outer layer giving you much better protection from the rain and prevents the outer fabric becoming weighed down when wet. Oh and of course being Gortex it’s breathable.
If I were to be really picky and absolutely have to find a fault it would only be that the matching leggings do not zip into the jacket. That said the rear panel of the jacket is slightly extended cover the top of your arse so with the leggings pulled up to your waste there’s no chance of water seeping in, a zip would have been a nice touch though

After reading lots of reviews from other manufacturers and going to lots of different shop to try these jackets on it was a no brainer to opt for the klim. I think you would have a hard job to find a jacket that is as light and as comfortable as this Klim overland. It does what it said on the label and more. Its comfortable, light, 100%Waterproof, wind proof, and just the right amount of armor. For me i liked the fact it didnt have loads of pockets because I always find i cant find anything when you have loads of pocket. Plus if your unlucky and full off the less you have in pockets the better.

Top Jacket for the money Review by Grant W
Top Jacket for the money" by , written on 20 November 2016
I recently purchased this jacket to replace my Klim Badlands Pro, which I loved and still think is the best motorcycle related purchase I have made to date. So why the switch? Having chopped in my big adventure bike for a KTM 690 Enduro, I needed something that was lighter and more suitable for strenuous trail riding and enduro practice days but without compromising too much of what the Badlands Pro had to offer and that would allow me to do longer treks across Europe when time allows. And I have to say the jacket has performed brilliantly, nice and light, snug tailored fit and as always, totally water proof.

Top quality jacket that is well worth the money Review by Graham
Top quality jacket that is well worth the money" by , written on 6 May 2016
I have left it for over 2 years before submitting a review. This has been done to give a long term assessment.

During the time I have owned the jacket it has faultless in it's performance. The quality is absolutely top notch in the 15000 miles I have used the jacket. It has never let a drop of rain in and has been warm in the winter (when used with Klim mid layers) and cool in the summer due to the very generous venting.

The fit is perfect for riding adventure style motorcycles and extremely comfortable. I was involved in a low speed accident when a car cut a corner and hit me. The jacket was virtually unmarked and I suffered no damage to my elbow area which was the area that took most impact.

I am extremely pleased with the jacket and thoroughly recommend it for off road and touring on an adventure bike

For the costs and the quality, the best value deal in the Klim jacket range. Review by Chris S

'Overland' may be an bit of an aspirational name but 'a beautifully made bit of kit' in the words of a mate who used it for a while. I like the unobtrusive but reassuring armour that's pliable when cold although, like the waterproofing, not had a chance to test it yet. Feels light to wear but with extra layers in the right places. Would love to see a bigger chest pocket, inside or out (may DIY inside to make it more practical) and I too found the neck stud too tight to do up - as John said, velcro would be better, especially when doing it on the move. Venting worked well in the desert; liked the accessible side zips and vertical back vents which a backpack won't block. Have to say Klim sizing doesn't correspond to my dims: L should have been a generous fit on me but it's pretty close and XL was massive. With L just enough to get a Powerlet heated vest in there. A great year-round day jacket and for what it costs and the quality, currently the best value deal in the Klim jacket range.

A great jacket but with a few flaws Review by John
A great jacket but with a few flaws" by , written on 24 January 2015
I have had an overland jacket and pants for over 7000 miles of riding in all weathers. It is a great jacket but I have found the following flaws in its design which detract from its performance. The jacket will not zip to the pants, its very difficult to slip waterproof gloves into the cuffs (they are too narrow) so water runs down the sleeves into the gloves, the neck collar has insufficient adjustment and is too tight when wearing cold weather gear (a Velcro arrangement would be better).

Lovely jacket Review by ChrisR
Lovely jacket" by , written on 1 April 2014
Really was surprised at the weight/bulk of this jacket compared to my (now leaking) old one. It fits like a glove (XL - I am a 46/48 chest) and feels more like wearing a normal jacket than a heavy piece of motorcycle gear. The weight isn't an indicator of the quality though, it feels like it will last a lifetime, everything about it oozes quality.
Out on the bike in the rain and not the warmest of weather and it is completely waterproof - not just at stopping you getting wet underneath, but not soaking up the rain leaving you dripping all over the floor at your destination, even better it means when you put it on at the end of the work day you are not already cold, wet and feeling heavy before you even get outside on the bike. With just a T-shirt and my softshell underneath and with no wind coming through at all I was plenty warm enough.
Out at the weekend in the heat with just this jacket on over a T-shirt it was a little warm when you stop in traffic, but even the slowest speed with the vents open it was nice and breezy.
Really has replaced both my winter jacket (with layering underneath), my summer jacket and means I don't have to take my waterproofs in summer "just in case".

Overall an excellent jacket. Very comfortable fit, well-armoured, absolutely 100% waterproof with decent sized zips and pulls to get on and off easily. Reflective strips are small but well-positioned and dazzlingly bright. Soft adjustable collar in a perfect world should be 1cm higher to avoid a cold neck without needing a scarf or tube.
