- Adv Tank on 990 Adv = Proper touring range! Review by John N

Got fed up with the sub 150 range on my 990 and looked at a number options. I decided on the Adv tank for two reasons, firstly it added range (now 220+ between fill ups) and secondly, the ability to only use it when needed without filling large dedicated tanks.Overall rating
I fitted it back in July, installation was easy, I did mod the way the hose was routed (used a pipe clamp/bracket and supported it off the chain roller). I also swapped the fuel hose zip ties to proper spring clips.
The 2into1 works well with a single WIngs exhaust (do get 2 new graphite seals) and I've found the overall low/mid torque of the bike is much better. I now run the 2011 std map with this set up and the bike behaves, no snatchiness or stalling, although some loss of of top end BHP (not a bad thing). Me and My mate just fitted these (ADV tank and 2 into 1 converter) to our 990 and 950 KTM Adventures. Spoke to Lyndon P. first to get some advice coz he has used them in anger.having spent a couple of hours on the first i fitted the second one in an hour it was that easy. the Big KTM is very easy to work on and no major parts had to be removed i.e tank etc to carry out the work. one worry was that it would effect the performance- i didnt and there were no changes required to jetting or mapping. the bike actually revs better and is more responsive. i also worried about the lovely sound from my povics being spoiled- again the bike still sounds great. the last concern was that the tank would look ugly, it does a bit in the images, however when fitted it looks great and fits perfect behind the side panel and luggage rack (yes you can stiil fit the pannier) Last but not least is the reason we fitted them in the first place- fuel range. My 990 goes on reserve at 120 in standard which is poop ( some will get more) . this is a pain on long trips. after fitting the tank i can get well upto 200 miles before hitting the reserve limit. Well worth the time and money Tip, make sure you buy 2 new gasket/seals that go between the header and the 2 into 1 converter- standard KTM parts Good luck Dave Bentley (Posted on 05/10/2011)Overall rating
