Quit sure these mirrors come as is,with no mounts as standard. Is this true?
The mirrors come as they are shown with no mounting system.
You will need to purchase a RAM arm either 1 3/4", 3" or 5 1/4" to suit your bike (or personal preference) and also a mounting system to attach the mirrors to your handlebars. Most people use a threaded ball mount into an existing mirror mount hole or a 'U'-bolt clamp directly onto the handlebars.
The standard mirrors on the Tiger 1050 & now 800 look nice but don't hold up well to the vicissitudes of the Irish weather. The Double take are the perfect solution. They're more robust, better looking and offer far more in the way of adjustment than the originals. I've yet to break one! (Posted on 06/02/2013)
I originally replaced my stock mirrors on the V Strom with bar ends but after getting tired of catching them on the garden gate and clipping car wing mirrors I decided to replace those with the double take mirror on the 5 inch arm. I'm quite wide at the shoulders so I needed the extra length to see around myself. It performed marvelously but you do need to do the RAM arm up very tight to keep it in position.
I only had the mirror on the Suzuki for a couple of weeks before chopping it in for a KTM 990 Adventure, the mirror perch has the same thread and it works perfectly but I might consider a shorter arm as the perch is closer to my hand than on the Suzuki. Other than that I have good vision at motorway speeds and it's only engine vibration under acceleration that causes vibration, something that any mirror is likely to suffer from, would definitely recommend this product and Adventure Spec! I took my Africa Twin offroad and forgot to take the mirrors off.... as usual I had a lay down and damaged one of the mirrors.
These are a great replacement and give me as much rear view if not more than the originals AND when it lays down now they just move rather than get damaged.
Perhaps an expensive solution but I know I won't need to replace these any time soon.
I purchased the 3 1/2 in and smaller 1/3/4 in arm too but I am going to replace the longer one with the shortest arm. The longer arms vibrates at speed and the shorter one doesn't.
I would recommend these to anyone who needs offroad and onroad rear view! (Posted on 19/02/2012)
After breaking my own mirror I decided to buy the doubletake. As with other things I have bought from Adventurespec its turned out to be an excellent quality product really suited to off road riding. Recomended 100% Thanks Dale. (Posted on 05/10/2011)
