After an extensive and exhaustive period of development over several years and numerous prototypes, Kriega have released their all-new Overlander Range.
This is a versatile modular system of core luggage components. You can choose specific items to completely customise your setup, or if you prefer go for one of the off-the-shelf bundles.
Here we will introduce the overall concept and the Off-The-Shelf Overlander 30 and Overlander 60 systems. We also go through the individual items in the range and how you can pick the right selection of components for your next adventure at the bottom of this post.
SYSTEMS
Off the shelf Kriega offer two bundled systems, for two distinctly different applications...
Overlander 30
The Overlander 30 system is designed to mount to dirt bikes and dualsport bikes without the need for luggage racks, to create a fast and light, 100% waterproof luggage system for your most extreme offroad adventures.
The Overlander 30 is a kit comprising the following items:-
2x Overlander 15 packs
1x Overlander Frameless Fit Kit (all webbing straps and alloy hardware to fit the packs to the bike - includes the awesome Kriega Rack Loops!)
The kit is unique in giving excellent luggage capacity, while not carrying its weight much above the seat line, not hindering the rider getting their leg over in technical terrain. The other option is to fit a tail pack using the integrated Kriega Rack Loops allowing you to increase capacity further. These are also really handy to have fitted to the bike permanently as you can just take a small pack on day rides leaving the Overlander 15's at base.
Extensive testing in extreme use has proven that these bags stay solidly attached to the bike through the roughest of rides. Awesome!
Overlander 60
The Overlander 60 system is designed to mount to bikes fitted with commonly available 'd-hoop' style 18mm pannier frames (usually used for mounting hard panniers) as made by KTM Powerparts, Metal Mule, Touratech etc.
Soft luggage is far safer and more flexible for the rider who wants to get off the beaten track, so Kriega's solution provides 60litres of totally waterproof and rugged 60 litre storage capacity on their ultra-secure virtually indestructable ADV platforms.

The Overlander 60 is a kit comprising:-
4x Overlander 15 packs
Uniquely, the ADV platforms are designed to accept Rotopax mounts to allow the mounting of upto 4 Rotopax containers per ADV platform. These mounts are NOT included in the standard Overlander 60 kit, so Kriega offer the entire range of components individually to allow the rider to design their own customised system to suit their needs.
Also, the Overlander Frameless Fit Kit can be purchased seperately allowing the rider to use two of the four Overlander 15 packs in the kit on their dirt/dualsport bike as an Overlander 30 setup
COMPONENTS
At the heart of the system is the Overlander 15 Pack
It is a 15 litre capacity, 100% water, dust and sandproof pack. Constructed from double stitched 1000D Cordura with reinforced sides and twin straps, which compress the load, whatever the terrain. Although designed as a part of the Overlander system it can also be used as extra luggage capacity on top of alloy panniers or as a stand-alone tailpack when used with the innovative new Kriega Rack Loops.
The super-tough base of the bag is of RHINOTEK grip fabric with 5 x 9mm location rivets for pannier mounting hardware. The 2 x 25mm nylon compression straps can also be used to mount the pack on alloy panniers or bike racks.
The Overlander 15 combines with the mounting components detailed below to become the Overlander 30 or the Overlander 60 systems (see above).
For riders who want to mount luggage to an existing 'd-hoop' style 18mm pannier frame, as made by KTM Powerparts, Metal Mule, Touratech, Hepco and Becker etc, Kriega developed the ADV Platform. This forms the solid and virtually indestructible mount upon which a pair of Overlander 15 packs can be mounted, or a single Overlander 15 and a Rotopax mount to carry extra fuel and water (see below).
Kriega understand that some riders love their metal panniers, but these are frequently let down by poor mounts. As an accessory for most 'traditional' aluminium panniers Kriega have developed the ALP Platform to provide a superior rugged mounting system for more extreme use than just the daily commute. The 8 mounting bosses spread the load across the panniers whole side panel and Kriega's adjustable position cam levers provide an ultra-secure grip on the luggage racks tubing.
Luggage on your dirt bike - you'll need the Kriega Rack Loops!
One of the most interesting and innovative components in the range are the new 'Rack Loops'. Dirt bikes are not really designed to carry luggage, but more and more riders are wanting their bike to fulfil different roles. One week they will be out racing an enduro, the next they will be exploring the pyrenees' off-road routes and rough camping on route and the following week they maybe trailriding in a remote corner of Wales. The Rack Loops offer a simple yet brilliantly effective way to have your bike setup for all these uses without needing to make any mods from week to week.
The Rack Loops create a secure and robust mounting point on the rear fender of your bike allowing a variety of tail packs to be mounted and, as a part of the Overlander 30 system (see above), full 30 litre capacity waterproof panniers. When you dont need to carry any luggage all that remains are the four annodised 'buttons' and tiny webbing loops, which weigh practically nothing and dont get in your way at all unlike a rack. They are compatible with Kriega's full range of US tailpacks and any 'dry bag' with the addition of Kriega's ultra secure Cam Straps (pictured below holding the US-5 to the bike) Genius!
Requires the rear fender to have 4 holes drilled for installation. Not just compatible with dirt bikes, any bike that can have its rear fender drilled is suitable...
The Final part of the Kriega Overlander system is actually from another company. Rotopax manufacture roto-moulded cannisters for carrying fluids, specifically for mounting on vehicles. Their 1 gallon (3.8litres) Fuel and Water cannisters are perfectly sized to carry on a bike and with the addition to the ADV Platform of the Deluxe Mounting Kit, two cannisters can be carried instead of an Overlander 15 bag.
So there it is, the complete Kriega Overlander range!
