Guard-it Technology Bashplate BMW F650GS/F800GS Description
A 'Guard it Technology' 4mm thick Adventure-Spec sumpguard for use on a BMWF800GS (all years).
One of our most popular products we have now sold over 1000 of these bashplates and can honestly say that the feedback has been overwhelmingly excellent. The plates have been tested from the deserts of Australia to the passes of Peru and we have yet to be informed of a single failure.
Designed for offroad and adventure use this guard is made with the same attention to detail and quality material as all 'Guard it Technology' products. However, the design is considerably more complex than that of a smaller bike because of the need to specifically protect all the vital parts of your bikes lower engine including your oil filter, oil cooler, and exhaust header pipes. This design incorporates an oil cooler air scoop to drive air over your oil cooler but stop the area filling with mud which which will always cause your engine to run overhot causing reliability issues. The full wrap around design is based heavily on our Rally heritage and we believe that this plate is the most comprehensive and best looking protection currently available for the BMWF800GS.
The bash plate is mounted using the existing rubberised mounts and fittings onto the engine sump and a steel bracket attaching to the front of the engine area.
The guard can be easily removed for oil changes and the front bracket only needs one nut losening and rotating (NOT removing) to change the oil filter.

- What other crashbar brands can I use with this bashplate?
- As far as we are aware the only crashbars you can use with this bashplate are our own Guard-it Technology range. We designed them for that exact reason! If you know of any other bars that do work with this bashplate then please let us know.

- Yes and No!
You do need a fitting kit but its not 'special'. Its the standard BMW part that comes with the F800GS to mount the BMW plastic bellypan that our bashplate replaces. You can buy it from any BMW dealer worldwide. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No

- I would like some freer-flowing headers, but they tend to be slightly larger diameter than stock and hence not fit the OE bashplate. Can you list any known aftermarket header pipes that can be used with this G-It one?
- I'm afraid I can't. You're exactly correct when you say that in order to gain a better flow you would need larger diameter headers (if you have already changed your end can). Our bashplate is designed to have as small a cross section as possible so that riding offroad is as easy as possible. To that end our 'plates do wrap around the lower portion of the bike tightly and currently there are no aftermarket headers that we are aware fo that will fit.
