New Yamaha Super Tenere unveiled! (its big)

After what seems like an eternity Yamaha have released its new 1200cc Super Tenere.

Squarely aimed at knocking the BMW R1200GS off its perch at the top of the sales charts its a monster of a bike and a technological tour de force.

With more gadgets and electronic devices than an F1 car it looks like it will make a great tourer and do-it-all bike, probably tempting a great number of R1 riders who would never be seen dead on a BMW onto a big trailie.

We cant wait to see one on the road, but doubt we’ll see many on the trail. At 261kg fuelled this is one seriously big bike that could become a real handful in off-tarmac going very quickly.

Check out more details over at MCN

The first bikes will be available to order only at £13499 with a full ‘adventure’ kit, see below…..

Adventure-Spec Dakar bound for 2010

Adventure-Spec Dakar bound for 2010

It’s heading rapidly towards the time of year known mainly around the world for one thing…Dakar 2010! We were delighted to see two finishers out of three sponsored riders last year.

Dakar 2009 was an excellent opportunity for  Adventure-Spec to test a new Rally/Adventure clothing range to be launched early in 2010. This year we are supporting only a single rider but will continue to use the event as a test bed for upcoming clothing designs, tool ideas, and hardware modifications. We figure if it lasts the Dakar then we KNOW its Adventure-Spec.

Keep looking here as the start date looms for more info on Craig Bounds, Dakar Competitor 2010.

We’re always happy to hear from customers who’ve gone and ‘lived the dream’, so it was great to receive the message below.
Mike Dallaway has returned from a successful Round the World trip supported by Kudu Expeditions and had fitted his BMW F800GS with Guard-it Technology Bash plate and crashbars, plus a set of Barkbusters handguards. See what he had to say!

“Hi Chris,

After 4 months and 21,000 miles I’m back in the UK after successfully going round the world.  This email is really just to let you know that the engine bars did their job perfectly both for me and the other users on the trip.  Between us we had five bikes using your bars and we tested all 5 sets repeatedly.  From no speed topples to 100mph down the road after hitting a goose (no honestly) they protected the bikes fabulously.  The Goose incident wore so far through the tubing it blued in the centre but still protected the bike.  The only damage that did get through was when one guy went wide on a bend and ground the bike along a concrete barrier until it hit a bit sticking out.  He and the bike went flying in different directions and the bars were hit so hard they folded backwards and the lower mounting plate punctured the alternator casing.  As we were in Russia we found a guy who welded up the casing and straightened up the bars until they fitted back on.  Everyone agreed that his leg and half the bike would have been missing if it wasn’t for the bars so they did an amazing job.

Regards

Mike Dallaway”

This years trickest bike?

This years trickest bike?

Well the wait is over as of today!

After the revolutionary designs produced by Husaberg and BMW last year for the enduro market, Yamaha must have this years no1 contender for trickest bike, the all-new YZ450F.

With a rearward slanted motor thats spun around putting the air intake at the front and the exhaust exiting behind the cylinder, its definately different. This is one of numerous innovations.

Check out the full details here

But what relevance does this have to Adventure-Spec? Well with the Dakar moving exclusively to 450’s within 2 years (we’ll be vague as the ASO surely will be) the enduro version of this bike is sure to be around and fighting it out at the front of the pack.
